Mini Projects
On this page, I will include all of the details and explanations of the mini projects we have done. For example, I will be explaining what we have done, how we have done it and how it can be used in my work.
Stop Motion
With this project, we were given some time, mini figures, a camera and a tripod. We were asked to make a short video using the characters in stop motion. This involved us coming up with an idea to use, planning and then filming it. To begin, me and Grace came up with a short plan and began to take photo's. Our plan was to use bluetac to ensure the characters stay in the same position. Then, we continuously took photo's of the characters making small movements to make it look like they were in motion. We took around 100 photo's of them to make sure it looked smooth. This was very time consuming but we knew it would be worth it. Once we had taken all of the photo's we transfered all of them onto our computer and began to mess around in order to find the best frames per second method in which the stop motion looked best. This took a while as well but eventually got the right speed. Next, we added in the music that we though matched to mood of the clip and editied it to make sure it all matched up well. Finally, we made sure it all worked well and looked good, also, I added some colour effects to try and make the dancing and music
Multi Cam
This was a fairly long task. To begin, I had to watch through multiple different camera footages and look out for what i wanted to include. This took some time as I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything key out. Once I got through them all, i added the audio track and then all the footage from each camera above. Then, I made my way through each clip seeing which angle worked best with what was happing in the audio. I also made sure the audio track and all clips were all lined up and were in sync to make sure It all matched their mouths.
Colour
When editing this clip, we were told to focus on the colour customisation theme. Therefore, I decided to add a light red effect to the overall video. This helped to produce a much more vintage like appeal as many old clips seem to have this colour theme within the video. To do this, I added a solid red colour over the clip and then played around with the opacity setting to make sure the main clip us still easily visible.
Light Rays
In this short video, I was given the task of adding light rays in the video and make them follow a specific object. Therefore, I chose to put it on the camera and follow the small light source to make sure it stood out more. To do this, I added the effect 'CC Light Rays' and then positioned them correctly. Next, similar to stop motion, I went frame by frame adjusting the position of the light rays to make sure it followed the camera.
Handwritten Introduction
When following this tutorial, there were many key elements we had to do beforehand to make sure it ran as smooth as possible. To begin, I got some paper, a whiteboard pen and wrote down whatever I wanted to come on screen. Once I had it written down, I then hung it up using pins and then recorded the paper, making sure there was no shadows and also shaking the camera a bit to give it a good effect. After, I emailed it to myself and added it on Premier Pro above a clip of some drone footage. Once that was done, I lined up the text in the middle of the screen and added the effect 'Inverted colours'. This turned the text white and the background black. After, I played around with the brightness and contrast to make sure it worked how I wanted and then lowered the brightness and increased the contrast. Once that was all done I had to change the blend mode to 'Screen' to make only the text visible. Finally I edited the positioning of the text at the start and then how I want it to finish by adding key frames when I want it to move. Overall, this gave a very similar effect to the music video for 'Closer' which I like a lot and may therefore be using it in my own music video.
Trippy
Within this task, we were given a short video of a girl dancing in a party like setting. We were then given some effects and setting to play around with to help give an idea of the vision and effect of someone at the party. To do this, I added 'CC Wide Time' and increased to forward steps to make it seem slower and more blurry to give it that drunk sort of vibe. Also, I added 'Posterize Time' and then slowed down the frame rate to make it slower and seem more delayed to give that lazy and not sober effect. I also added other small features such as motion blur just to empathise how drunk/ intoxicated the character is. I really like this effect and may actually end up using his effect as there may be a scene involving a party and drinking.
Mirror Effect
Finally, this was one of the more easier tasks as all we had to do was dd the effect called 'Mirror'. Once it was added, I adjusted the postion of the reflection line to make sure it lines up straight down the middle. This is a very cool effect which I have seen a lot within music videos. I am considering using it, however i don't think it will match the overall theme and vibe of the video.
